Inspired Wanderings to…
For Virginia, summer is spent on the north west coast of Scotland, “living on what feels like the edge of our planet Earth, connected to sea, sky and rock”.
“With my family and friends, we often sail, fish, kayak, swim and follow dolphins and watch otters play and the seals rest. We climb mountains, we forage, we cook, we sing and we sleep well!”
“This magical landscape has never failed to inspire and feed the soul!”
Many of the Collections early printed linens were designed as a direct response to Virginia’s summers; North Sea, Findhorn Bay, Pictish and Forest to name just a few.
This year Virginia’s friends kindly lent the use of the wonderful Gypsy Moth III (Sir Francis Chichester’s favourite yacht, his most personal one, with whom he won the first Single-Handed Trans-Atlantic Race in 1960). She was sailed up by parties of willing friends from Portsmouth to the Summer Isles, where she gave so much adventure and joy, flitting between the islands and following endless pods of dolphins dancing by her side!
Scotland remains an anchor to the Virginia White Collection. It’s colours, smells and sounds continue to inspire us as our Collection continues to grow and evolve. We remain steadfast to celebrate and cultivate the crafts of The British Isles!
Heather, bracken, seashores, beaches, seaweed, shells, rocks, long grasses, golden sunsets and cool moonlight over the waters are just some of the constant colour inspirational sources that we use for the Collection.
It is travels and experiences like this that inspire us to keep creating NEW designs, patterns and textures for the ever growing Virginia White Collection.
