Inspired Wanderings to…

What with the imminent change in season just around the corner, our studio designer Alex reflects on her recent trip to Sirkka, Finland, located in the magical Arctic Circle.

The trip marked the last dance of winter and was nothing short of a wonderland adventure. The crisp, clean air could but only invigorate ones senses. The snow-covered landscape and frozen lakes created a tranquil and surreal atmosphere, truly making it a winter paradise.

While wandering through Lapland's serene forests, Alex couldn't help but draw parallels to our woodland design “Clea” in Indigo. The deep, rich blues echoed the vast winter skies, while the intricate patterns mimicked the frosty embellishments on Lapland's trees. It was a serendipitous encounter with our own creation, a testament to the natural synergy between our textiles and such travels and experiences.

The trip was a mesmerising round-up of the past winter months, a celebration of the icy surroundings, fell land, and snow-covered trees. We often take inspiration from our surroundings and incorporate them into our collections and colour palettes. Sophisticated rich royal blues and peaty earthy browns, are a favourite and can be seen in our woven designs Reeds in Woodland and Zig Zag in Tobacco.

Bidding farewell to winter and looking forward to longer and warmer days, Alex has returned with a heart full of inspiration. Reflecting on the unique beauty the trip brought, the studio is now buzzing with excitement to translate such travels and experiences into our upcoming designs.

It is travels and experiences like this that inspire us to keep creating NEW designs, patterns and textures for the ever growing Virginia White Collection.
