Designed by Dora, Rye was inspired by the wood carvings of the English artist Eric Ravilious (1903-1942). The design captures the feeling of something scratched and ancient, yet abstract. Dora creates her designs from Lino and woodcarvings and is constantly looking to the Sussex landscape around her to gain inspiration. The crude base cloth used for this print and its colours gives this design a feeling of rusticity and earthiness.
