North Sea was designed by Rose de Borman, a London based artist who travels all over the world to collect antique fabrics and who is renowned for her loose painterly style. The inspiration came from C19th engravings of the sea near Hastings as well as the Van Gogh sepia drawings of the sea I saw at the Royal Academy. The name is inspired by the North Sea on the North East coast of Scotland where I spend a lot of time. The colour-ways I have created reflect the way the light falls across the sea over the span of a day.
